Atorvastatin Tablets have been indicated to prevent cardiovascular disease and for treatment of dyslipidemia. Atorvastatin is active compound of this medicine having chemical formula C33H35FN2O5 with molecular weight 558.64 g/mol. These tablets are known to work by inhibiting HMG CoA reductase resulting in decrease in cholesterol biosynthesis. They are also admired for having ability to increase HDL level and reduce triglycerides level in blood. Atorvastatin Tablets show very little bioavailability of up to 12% and get metabolized in liver by enzyme CYP3A4. With elimination half life of about 14 hours, this medicine is excreted in bile.
