Esomeprazole Injection is a proton pump inhibitor which is indicated to be used for treatment of peptic ulcers, heartburn, acid-related indigestion, and dyspepsia. Active chemical of this injection is known to have molecular formula C17H19N3O3S with molar mass of 345.417 g/mol. It has bioavailability of 50 to 90% with elimination half life of around 1 to 1.5 hours and excretion through kidney. This injection works by inhibiting proton pumps present on surface of parietal cells of stomach causing secretion of acid. Administered via intravenous route, metabolism of Esomeprazole Injection is done in liver with help of CYP2C19 and CYP3A4.
Uses: Esomeprazole is used in the treatment of acidity, heartburn, intestinal ulcers and stomach ulcers.
How it works: Esomeprazole lowers the acid production in the stomach.
